We booked based on all of the 5 star ratings and it certainly delivered. The house was not only immaculate but stunning. The beautiful woodwork was top notch and the flow of the house perfect. The kitchen was so well stocked, labeled and organized. Everywhere was extremely clean. I was having trouble with stairs so my husband and I took the master suite on the main floor. My daughter took the master suite on the second floor. Both had amazing views. The owners thought of everything including black out window coverings. Our 3 teens headed out to the beach and swam. The beach is shallow and protected. The house is close to other beaches with great snorkeling access. The few neighbors were quiet. We enjoyed the snorkel books they had so we could identify the sea creatures we all saw. In their front yard was an easy accessible hose to wash off all of the sand from our swim clothes & snorkel gear. They also had an outdoor shower to help although we didn’t need to use that. The owners seemed to think of everything. The washer/drier worked very well. One night, our son got a stomach bug. We cleaned up and called the property managers in the morning. They were so kind and offered condolences right away. The carpet cleaners came out within the hour! Initially, we had a slight problem with the garbage disposal but it was immediately fixed by maintenance. We were all very reluctant to return to our home on the mainland – we had such an enjoyable time.

Sep 28, 2022 Paradise found My friend and I had a fantastic vacation with whales jumping right off shore, rainbows & sunsets, and easy access to snorkeling throughout Puako at public access points. She had never been to Hawaii and I must say, she couldn’t have stayed at a better place to take it in. Property management was great and responsive. Place was very well equipped indoors and with beach supplies. Would definitely stay here again if it’s available. Anonymous

The beds were extremely comfortable, the kitchen fully outfitted, and everything was marked so you didn't have to go through every cabinet to find what you were looking for! The location could not be any better! Tide pools right out the back door and depending on the tide, even a little swim area for littles. Saw turtles, eels, fish, & dolphins right out the back door! May 03, 2024 The Puako home is absolutely beautiful, breathtaking location right on the ocean (great spot for whale spotting!) with the gently rolling green hills of Waimea in the back ground. Situated between Waikoloa Village, Hapuna Beach and Mauna Kea Beach Hotel you really have the perfect Big Island location but with the quiet and privacy for an idyllic getaway. The home is immaculate, simple lay out, no clutter, sparkling clean, a relaxing vibe as soon as you walk in, with all the amenities and more to make it completely stress free, enabling you to focus on having a great family holiday. We have been lucky enough to visit the Islands for many years and I can honestly say this is by far the best home and location we have stayed at. The hosts were super helpful and kind, they were only a TEXT away if you needed anything. I would highly recommend this five star location. Thank you. Robert Coombes

May 03, 2024 Luxurious house and interior. Not overly decorated and had plenty of amenities in good condition. A lot of variety of drink-ware and good amount of plates and cups. Bathroom/shower/bath towel sets were good, except for the second floor bathroom drainage issue and the shower handle issue, which the Mngt team resolved immediately. Kitchen cook sets were all scratched up (pots, pans, and rice cooker) which was a big disappointment for a facility of this price range; however, when I requested to replace pots and pans, the management team immediately followed up with new ones the next day (I didn’t ask for a replacement of the rice cooker.) unfortunately, the replacement cook set may have been a cheap one as the coating of one pot already started chipped off after boiling noodles (no hard utensil was used during the usage.) 2nd floor bedroom movement can be heard from the 1st floor master bedroom clearly at night, which was disappointing. Check in/out instruction and communication was clear and informative. Overall, the house was pleasant to stay in and the management team’s support was top quality. Cooper Shin

May 03, 2024 The house is in a fantastic location on the water with a beautiful view and immediate access to the water. There is a store across the street for items and you are only 15 minutes away from Waimea or other locations with restaurants, so it is extremely convenient to stay here. The house itself is clean and spacious and well supplied. Grandma enjoyed waking up early and spending time on the lanai to watch the waves come in. Wish we could have stayed longer! David Gauthier

Apr 08, 2024 The house on Pukao Beach Drive was epic! PROS: The location couldn't be better (right on the beach, on the water). The house was super convenient and had a lot of extras that we ended up using (e.g, beach towels, beach chairs, etc). The beds were comfy, having three bathrooms and three bedrooms was perfect for our family. And the property management folks were super easy to work with. The general store right across the street is convenient for snacks and staples - but their hours are pretty short so plan ahead! CONS: As mentioned in the listing, the water behind the house is for looking at, not swimming in. DO NOT TRY TO SNORKEL - it's like snorkeling through Mordor. Every rock and creature is sharp. Go a short distance away to "Beach 69" where the snorkeling is much better! Matt Linton

We were fascinated by the flow of the tide every day and night. The public beach preserve (4 minutes north) was actually the best snorkeling spot I’ve ever experienced. The house was perfect for us - very comfortable with everything we needed. I wish we could have stayed longer. Jenn Cooley

May 03, 2024 The communication from the home managers was great. We had a couple of small issues and they fixed them immediately. The open concept of the kitchen and living/dining/room was wonderful. We saw and watched too many whales to count. Great beach about 1 mile away. Be careful heading out into the water. even with water shoes on you can get a sea urchin stuck in your foot. Dec 06, 2025 absolutely lovely home It was an absolutely lovely home which had lovely views from most rooms in the home, as well as direct access to a small private beach. The home had every amenity we could think of, e.g,; watershoes, sun screen, beach towels and hampers. The well appointed outdoor lanai made for relaxing evenings. The kitchen and bathrooms were supplied with everything we could need (or not even realize we needed til we saw it) It was a very comfortable, very clean home with three bedrooms positioned away from each other so that the 6 adults all felt like they had their private space to retreat to.
