We loved the house- there was so much room and extra space. I wish they would up the amount of people allowed to stay because there is plenty of space to fill! The house itself provides that traditional Hawaiian style twist. The fruit plants and trees- SO yummy! Turkeys? Yes please! The location was amazing- a very quick- back road drive to our favorite beach- hapuna. The beach that was somewhat walkable (15 minute walk) was pretty rocky but a beautiful spot (not somewhere I would lounge for the day though). The puako store just a minute or less drive down has a surprisingly diverse selection of goods! The only con I would say would be the lack of beach equipment. they say they have all the beach stuff- but no cooler and no boogie boards (though someone gave us some and we left them there to add to the collection). We go to big island every year and have stayed in a variety of different locations- when someone says beach gear- I expect all the goodies ?

Great place. Short walk to the beach. Lots of space, good beds and rooms. Outdoor space was very nice and where we spent most of our time as a group. Highly recommend!

What an amazing home. The layout was perfect for multiple family groups to each have privacy and the pool was perfect for cooling off in the Puako heat. We had a little trouble getting some of the air conditioning units to work - maybe door sensors not lining up properly - but didn't really miss them. The point of being there was being in the hot weather, not in the cold mauka wind of our daily lives. There is a security camera that watches the common area. We plugged it back in when we left for the security of the property but since we didn't leave the house unattended we didn't think it needed to watch us.

This expansive layout is perfect for multi-generational families, extended families, or a friends' vacation, blending comfort with island-style accommodations.

Upon entering Honu Ohana’s gates, you're greeted by a lush, tropical courtyard, ideal for outdoor dining, family game nights, or relaxing on the covered lanai, enveloped by the fragrance of the island's flora. The shaded pool offers a refreshing escape after beach days or Big Island exploration, further enhanced by a newly installed private outdoor shower.

Adjacent to the pool and garden is the renovated "Pool House Suite", now a large bedroom with a king bed and garden view, walk-in closet, an ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower, and an office/TV anteroom. This unique setting ensures privacy and serenity away from the main home.

The first floor also features a spacious Garden Suite guest bedroom with king bed, offering private access to its ensuite and the rear tropical garden. The living room on this level has ample seating, a large Smart TV, and pool views, making it a perfect indoor retreat. With numerous windows and ceiling fans, Honu Ohana assures a refreshing circulation of tropical trade-winds.

Journey upstairs to find the Primary Suite, which offers an ensuite that opens up to a second lanai with partial ocean views. The suite houses a bonus room with twin beds, perfect for families with small children. The other upstairs bedroom also features an ensuite and lanai access, complementing the Primary Suite. Both upstairs bedrooms have Split ACs.

There is a newly remodeled spacious Ohana suite above the garage. This room offers a private haven with a king bed, Split AC, its own ensuite with a walk-in shower, and a private balcony. A bonus is the small kitchenette, fitted with a fridge, coffee maker, and toaster oven. A loft above the bedroom provides extra space for relaxation or storage.

May 03, 2024 We loved this house! So much space for a big group. Comfortable outside seating options which is where we hung out the most. Very well stocked with kitchen items and beach chairs, etc. The location is great, not too far to get to many spots. The best snorkeling we found during our whole vacation was the access spot across the street from the house. We saw turtles, eels, and manta rays. We would definitely return to this house! Jan 10, 2024 We had 7 adults in our group - 3 generations between the ages of 29 and 84. We all found the perfect bedroom for our needs. The bedrooms have A/C splits, and the common areas are cooled with ceiling fans and open windows. There was a quiet place for each and every one of us to relax, read, or work, as well as plenty of space for us to gather for meals, games, and conversation. There are two separate washers and dryers, which made it easy for us to keep up with laundry. The main kitchen has lots of pots, pans, utensils, dishes, and glassware, plus cleaning supplies. There are two smaller kitchens, which are great for refrigerator/freezer storage and for the use of a second oven, which we used for Christmas dinner. We also enjoyed the pool, which is nice and cold - a perfect place to cool down on a hot day. We had a couple of minor issues arise, and Eilis was responsive and took responsibility. We would recommend this property to any family wanting to stay close to resorts and beaches. Hk Buck

Aug 08, 2024 Biggest downfall of the house was the AC was difficult to adjust outside of fixed settings. Very hard to cool the house and sleep comfortably. Public access to beach close, but not great for public enjoyment. Property Manager didn’t respond to clarification about trash. Otherwise the house was beautiful and we really enjoyed it. The wild animals were a plus. In general, i think exiting requests for airbnbs are too extreme, but this property is not exclusive in that. Mahalo for hosting! Tyler Brandewie

Feb 23, 2024 This place is very well kept, and very roomy. We loved staying here. The location wasn't right close to everything but it was a quiet neighborhood close to the ocean so you could hear the waves crashing not far away. The private pool is very nice and it has AC units in 4 of the 5 bedrooms. It was difficult to get them to operate at first but the host filled us in on the specifics and was quick to respond. Lots of great things available to take to the beach from chairs and toys to beach mats and big nice umbrellas. The only real downside for us was their is no crib or pack-n-play for our youngest to sleep in so we had to rent one. In all other similar properties we have stayed in, they have included something along these lines. With a property of this size, you can expect families to be a common customer and usually that means a crib or a pack-n-play is needed. But overall, it was a very clean, very roomy wonderful place to stay. Steven Price

May 03, 2024 After not being able to access the additional unit on the property we'd counted on and having to wait 3 hours to resolve the issue, we had an absolute fabulous time at this property. We loved the house with its funky set-up (there are three separate but joined units in the main house, plus the additional unit on the property), multiple places to hang, pool with water feature, multiple outdoor showers, well appointed main kitchen, laundry room, ample supply of beach gear and towels, and nicely decorated rooms. The property managers assigned to us were very responsive, helpful and accommodating. We loved the quiet neighborhood we were in, with close access to the beach, a local general store, and only a short drive to shops, restaurants, etc... We'd highly recommend this property. One thing to note though, for anyone who's afraid of or allergic to wasps - there were a bunch of them around the pool at all times - they didn't bother us at all but might make some folks uncomfortable. Wonderful outdoor living area, and even though we were steps from ocean-access, the pool was really great to have. Quiet neighborhood, with a small market close by. Jan 19, 2025 The house was immaculate and spacious for 8 people. The property managers provided excellent service. Only thing was the queen bed in the pool house was a futon or a pullout couch. Would definitely stay again without hesitation. Suzy Schultze
Feb 07, 2025 This rental was excellent for our extended family with plenty of room for everyone to be together or have private space. The pool was wonderful for the kids and we were in and out of it multiple times a day. The nearby beaches were great, both sandy ones and reef/rocky areas. Lots to see and do. The property is older and a little worn but plenty of character and perfect for our group. Karen Loos
Feb 22, 2025 This house was an amazing place for our group of seven to stay. We had three separate family groups that could separate into their own areas. The pool area is fabulous. The kitchen and dining areas are great. Beach towels, chairs and umbrellas were available for our use and that made the beach much easier. The support staff is amazing.
