Facing west, overlooking the Pacific, the Pineapple House is the perfect spot to catch the most incredible sunsets you will ever witness. Situated in a gated community with 24/7 security, the house feels like an oasis--safe, tranquil, and private. Moreover the grounds are beautifully landscaped with palm trees, flowering plumerias, and water features--it's like a private resort. And the house itself is very spacious, clean and well-appointed (e.g., kitchen utensils, beach gear, snorkeling masks, sun tan lotion)! Finally, the host was very responsive to our queries about the wi-fi set up and the front door code. Both issues were resolved with a quick phone call. All in all, we had a dream vacation in this dream house!

Jun 03, 2024 My wife and I stayed at this beautiful home for 10 days. Tall vaulted ceilings in the large common area was nice. The kitchen was well equiped and we enjoy cooking local fresh local fare. We loved the patio at sunrise and sunset. The hot tub was good for our achy bones after hikes and activities. Being a large gated community gave us an extra feeling of security, although we have never had an issue on any of the islands. This is a great place for 1, 2, or 3 couples. Mahalo Nui Loa! The place is located in a quiet neighborhood and community, and the security staff were very welcoming and friendly when we arrived. Even though we didn’t use the hot tub, we found the amenities convenient and clean. Highly recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a quiet, beautiful stay close to nature. The only drawback is that the living room area doesn’t have AC, which can be hot in the afternoon, considering we are working from home most of the time. Aug 20, 2024 Beautiful location and much larger than expected. Beds were super comfy and the showers and master bath were amazing. The water feature in the outdoor garden space is very peaceful and relaxing. The lanai was enjoyable to watch sunsets at night, and is quintessential Hawaiian sunset material. Remarkable views of the ocean! Kitchen is large and has almost everything we needed. Upon arrival, we noticed the place was immaculately cleaned with tons of fresh linens, towels, and extra if needed. Hot tub situation needs to be fixed and addressed. It is only for use at certain times. Guests are adults and should be allowed to choose times for hot tub usage. You'll need good eyes at night to see in the kitchen as there is not adequate lighting. Not an issue for our stay, but note that the rooms remain very cool because of the AC's, but the rest of the place gets pretty warm by mid afternoon. Overall, we highly recommend this airbnb, and would happily stay here again. Wendy Rogers
Sep 02, 2024 The location was good and house was mostly as it was represented on app (except for a kitchen ant problem). The house is very hot in the living area during summer months (no AC except bedrooms). BEWARE Gather is EXTREMELY inflexible once you book. Tropical storm Hone hit the area prior to our stay and made areas inaccessible on the Big Island. I provided a state of Hawaii natural disaster relief declaration issued by the governor and still was not enough to allow a refund OR reschedule...they would do neither (reschedule request was weeks away, not months). Additionally, the team did not care about my concerns with Hurricane Gilma quickly approaching the islands (thankfully, it dissipated into a tropical depression). Overall, I decided to go or lose out on thousands, however, it ruined the experience for this part of my trip and I will not (knowingly) book another rental through this group. Finally, the insurance through Airbnb is worthless. I did purchase it but couldn't use it Mitch Keller

Jul 16, 2024 Positives: - photos are accurate - beds and pillows are very comfortable - good water pressure and hot water for the showers - house is clean and has lots of towels, pillows, blankets, kitchenware, cleaning items, beach umbrella, cooler bag, and other items you might need - very clean (and you must keep it clean as bugs are easily attracted to anything left out) - easy check in/out and responsive hosts Negatives: - internet did not work the entire duration of our stay - paltry toiletries provided - the master bedroom has no curtains on one side of the room so it’s extremely bright in the morning (an eye mask is a must if you sleep in there) - 2 bedrooms have windows on top of the door that allow some light in from the common area (may be hard for light sleepers to sleep if others are doing something in the common areas) - loud birds chirping through the night and early morning (bring earplugs if you are sensitive to noise) Janice L

Mar 05, 2024 Amazing setting with stunning sunsets. The outdoor patio and hot tub with beautiful views was the highlight. We hung out on the patio most of the time we were there. Even had coffee on the patio just as it was getting light. This is a very quiet neighborhood. There is a grocery 2 minutes down the hill. The heart of Kona is about a 10 minute drive. It’s about a mile down to the ocean, but we could still hear the surf going to sleep. The cleaning fee seems a little steep and out of sync with usual fees. Lance Jobe

Dec 21, 2023 Beautiful house in a great location. Although the hot tub wasn't working when we arrived, the situation was quickly rectified and we were able to enjoy the tub afterwards. The only minor thing was that we found ants in the coffee maker when we first arrived. Overall, it was a great stay, and we're already planning our next trip back to Hawaii. Sheng Lundquist

Dec 21, 2024 Loved staying in this beautiful house with amazing views. Location is very private, safe and close to town. Host was quick to respond and proactive when we reached out about the AC in one of the rooms not working. Unfortunately the hot tub did not work throughout our stay and one of the sprinklers outside the main bedroom was loud enough to wake us up every night. The bathrooms were a little dusty with small moths and mosquitoes. Still, the house was beautiful and the location very convenient, we would definitely book again. Valeria Cruz

Jun 25, 2026 We were on our honeymoon and loved this house so much that some days we’d just stay and hang out instead of explore. The view was stunning! There’s birdsongs in the morning and frog songs at night. Very peaceful water feature that can be heard from different parts of the house. Clean and well maintained.
