Beautiful home

Beautiful home with fabulous view and nice access to the beach. However. give 4 stars because a little more detail on cleaning all horizontal surfaces needs to take place. Example, top of refrigerator, window sills, and base boards.

We had the best vacation ever in this ocean front beach house

We stayed at this house for a month in July of 2021 and have made a reservation for next year. We think this house is wonderful! (4 bedrooms: 2 queen master suites upstairs, 1 queen bedroom and 2 twin beds bedroom with a shared bathroom downstairs, there's a queen sofabed in the living room and there's a 4th bathroom in the garage PLUS an outdoor shower). It has ductless cooling/heating heads in all 4 bedrooms, if you leave the doors open, these will cool (or heat in winter I guess) the whole house quickly. The Wifi was great; 2 people in our party worked remotely without any problems. The house is gated, complete with gate keeper house with gate keeper, super safe. It has 2 lanais with 2 wicker chairs each and huge windows overlooking the ocean. The views are incredible, the location on Makaha Beach Park is unbeatable; glorious sunsets, bright starry nights, moonsets and surf breaking, flanked by coconut trees...Makaha Beach Park is also one of the best beaches in the world imo: lifeguarded from 9am-5pm, spectacular snorkeling, (body)surfing, or more quiet sandy bottom swimming in the middle, all can be had here, without any jellyfish to spoil the experience, and within mere steps off the backyard. We saw so much wildlife; birds, turtles, seals, an eagle ray, octopi, dolphins, hawaiian fish, etc. all in or on the ocean in front of the house. BUT: if shopping is your thing, or restaurants and nightlife, you have to drive to Ko-Olina, Kapolei or beyond, at least 30 minutes away. However, there's plenty of basic amenities in Waianae, like most fast food restaurants, a new Longs, a Tamura Supermarket and a Starbucks. The house has a well equipped kitchen with oven, glass electric cooktop, dishwasher (a pre-rinse one, unfortunately, we ended up pre-washing everything), full sized fridge with water& ice through the door, yay! The dining table can seat 6-8. There was a much appreciated good starter supply of goods like toilet paper, kitchen towels, shampoo, soap, etc. available. The beds were all comfortable to sleep on, and we all slept like logs on the microfiber sheets that were supplied. I always bring my own pillow protectors and cotton pillow covers though, as the pillows are of unknown age and use...Some of the furniture is dated, but functional. The living room is small, it has a queen sized convertible sofa bed and 1 other chair, so it can seat 4. We tried the tv in the living room only, and that worked fine. Don't know about the 2 tv's in the 2 upstairs bedrooms, we never used them. One of the master suites has a jacuzzi tub, haven't tried that either. As with any rental house, there were some minor maintenance issues, as the stair treads were worn down and a bit of a tripping hazard. Hawaiian ideas of clean do not seem to measure up to my kind of clean; we left the house cleaner than we found it. Where the house has roller blinds (upstairs is mostly plantation shutters fortunately) some of the roller blinds are deteriorating in sun and sea: they smell funky when you roll them down for the night. Our solution was to simply leave those ones up. The outside grill, a charcoal Weber kettle, is on its last legs. The (washplate) washer is located in the garage, the washplate was new to us, it seems to be rough on laundry, but cleans fine. Be sure to use the deep water wash cycle choice and select an extra rinse..., together with the electric dryer that vents directly into the garage (crack open the garagedoor and open back door to get rid of the moisture). There's plenty of beach toys in the garage to choose from, as well as beach towels. There's clothes lines in front of the house to air dry your beach wear from. We loved living in the beach house, we were very happy there, we had a blast, the neighbors and locals were very friendly and helpful, and the location was perfect for us.
