Great Maui Stay

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed in the penthouse at Kaanapali Shores resort. The view was great. The bedrooms were very nice. They provided chairs, towels, bags, and a beach umbrella. The kitchen was also very well stocked with things you might need. We also appreciated having laundry pods ready for us when we arrived. Pool bar was great, and there were a few little shops at the resort. I would recommend skipping the Beach Club restaurant. The food was subpar and the service was cold and unwelcoming. Would also recommend bringing your own snorkeling equipment as there are a lot of fish to see close to shore.

The View - The View - The View

This penthouse view is what makes this condo great. Not only from the living area, but both bedrooms have an ocean view. The second bedroom had twin beds which was a consideration for us when selecting a condo. The condo is fully equipped with the essentials you need for your stay. The wooden furniture in the living area is very beautiful. The management company responded quickly to problems we encountered. Thank you for that. Overall, it was a great stay & we had a great time. I do think however that the condo is in need of some TLC & upgrades. It looks a little “tired”. I would hope that management would invest in improvements & make this great condo even better.

I wish the AC would have worked better at night but I think it’s an Hawaii thing. The resort charged to use the gym. That was a surprise and didn’t think that was right. The resort was beautiful. The staff was nice. Condo was clean with great views. Very quiet as well. Didn’t hear anyone except for outside. It was super low-key and quiet. The resort was not busy. Family friendly. Sep 24, 2024 Beautiful views We just returned from a week-long stay at the Kaanapoli Shores 903 rental. We had a wonderful time/experience. We have 2 daughters and the space was perfect to accommodate the 4 of us. The property was very clean and the pictures in the listing are very accurate to what the property looks like. The condo has beautiful ocean views that we enjoyed. We saw sea turtles and dolphins from our balcony. We found the location of the condo to be ideal. We were very close to several other beaches we wanted to explore as well as Whalers Village which has nice shops and restaurants. It was nice to be out for a long beach day and only have a couple-minute drive back to the condo. The property has 2 nice pools. The pool closest to the ocean has a bar with very reasonable prices. The complex as a whole is old. It was very clean but just outdated. However, we have found that if you want to be oceanfront, the new resorts just can't get as close to the water as the older complexes did. Some of the reviews mention cockroaches and that was one of my big worries going there. We only saw a couple. This does come with the territory of it being a tropical wet area. We kept all food up and sealed, kept the kitchen clean, and the key was to plug every drain at night. We really didn't have any issues at all. It was great! We loved our time at 903. Sep 24, 2024 Family Vacay Our stay was awesome! The resort was clean and nice. Great pools and hot tubs. The restaurant there wasn’t so great but we bought groceries the first day to cook breakfast and lunch ourselves anyway. Walking distance to lots of shops and stores. The beach is right there and actually has some of the best reefs for snorkeling. Myself, my husband, and our nanny went with our 2 littles. 3 year old and 1 year old and the house was accommodating for little kids which I was so thankful for. Overall great family trip! V

Dec 27, 2024 We enjoyed the condo; it was a beautiful view and had everything we needed. the welcoming gifts were a great surprise. The complex had great shops, restaurant, pools and access to the ocean! The front desk personal were so helpful and polite. There were lots of shops and restaurants nearby, mostly owned by local people and so enjoyed talking with them. I would look for Gather Vacations as our host again. I needed something very specific for my family during our stay in Maui. Specifically, I needed twin beds in the second bedroom for my kids. I also wanted a great view of the ocean, a clean and modern space, and some amenities like a pool, restaurant and gym. This place delivered on all of those things. The best part was the whale watching from the lanai! We would see many whales throughout the day from our room. It was magical! I would happily stay there again.As it relates to the property, I liked that it never felt too crowded. (Other resorts that we visited seemed like people were scrambling for pool chairs.) The property was fairly quiet and offered just enough. It was also well maintained. They have a really cute shop on site called Swell, but it was only open for a couple hours on one day the entire week we were there. I wish it was open daily because I definitely would’ve bought souvenirs from there. There’s also an on-site “convenience” store, but it closes at 5 PM so didn’t offer much convenience. That said, there is a grocery store within a short walk across the street, so you can get everything you need there. I just didn’t feel comfortable walking over there by myself at night. There were also plenty of restaurants and things to do within walking distance to the property, including one onsite restaurant. Overall, it was a great stay and the vacation rental met our needs perfectly. We would definitely stay there again. Brandy R.

Feb 20, 2024 Beautiful Condo and helpful staff Kaanapali Shores 903 was just outstanding. Watching whales from the balcony was simply the best. We really enjoyed this condo. It was very well appointed with everything you might want for a great vacation. It was nice to have a supply of paper goods and soaps available as well. Communication with the Spice? Team was amazing and they were right there for anything we might need. There were few roaches in the kitchen but when I called it in they sent someone right in to spray. Oct 01, 2023 Enjoy Liked to location. Place could use little update. Not happy we were told things had opened back up when they had not. With the sad circumstances we ask for refund but was denied only could reschedule. Reschedule doesn't work for everyone. I could see not given refund if we were the one to cancel but when other places were offering refunds, it should of been option. We still made the best of everything and drove to many parts of the island. Hopefully we will get to return one day. beth s.

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The management company was very good with communication and kind about our problem. The location was beautiful. It’s too bad the cockroaches have taken over. We emptied our trash daily and never left food out and still we had cockroaches crawling across the counter every night and lining up along the dishwasher seal every morning, even though the dishwasher was empty. We kept all of our pantry food in the refrigerator as well. The management company offered to come spray, but I was not comfortable having my small children exposed to the chemicals. I did appreciate their quick response. Upon our departure, a handyman was measuring to replace the carpet so that will be nice for future guests. Alex H.

We have stayed in Maui before on Kannapali coast and this stay rates an 8/10 compared to our previous stay at a resort just down the street. It was great to have the kitchen and washer and dryer. The bathrooms were immaculate and spacious. The dryer did not work and there was no laundry detergent. The kitchen is fully stocked and the beds are super comfortable. There is not a lot of room on the balcony and we struggled to find a place for all 5 of us to sit. The air conditioning struggled to keep up and it was often warm at night. The location was great, many places to eat shop, and play nearby. I loved that you could walk right out to the ocean from the resort. The pools were also a blast and really nice and big. The condo was nice, but we didn’t feel it was super clean. The coffee maker had bugs in it and we didn’t realize that until after we had a couple cups of coffee. The property managers never answered their phone or returned a call when I had questions before we arrived. They did email back after a couple of days though. The condo was gorgeous inside with lots of great extras like beach chairs, floaties, cooler bag. The only thing that we struggled with but I don’t think is the fault of the condo is there was no water pressure and the master bath shower head was a bit low. Not sure if that’s just hard to get high water pressure on the 9th floor. The resort itself was fantastic as well. So many fun family features and programs. Definitely something to do for everyone. Reviewer Comments: This unit was awesome on the penthouse and towards the front of the complex! I would recommend staying there and would stay their ourselves again. I liked that the beach was so close to the pool and almost private. We also enjoyed the pools, games, etc. onsite. May 24, 2022 Kaanapali Shores 903 Nice 2 bedroom unit on the top floor. Property is a little dated but overall very good. Same is said for the unit. The wind is really strong down the corridor so when you open the door to the unit, the master bedroom door would slam shut every time (until we improvised a door stop). A little more info from the VRBO team would have been appreciated; 1 - You need to get a parking pass. Not a big deal but was never mentioned in the correspondences. 2 - You also need to get 'towel cards' from the front desk for pool towels. Also never mentioned. 3 - Unit needs a door stop for the master bedroom. Overall, we had a great stay with no issues and would stay there again. Mike M.
Apr 22, 2022 The View - The View - The View This penthouse view is what makes this condo great. Not only from the living area, but both bedrooms have an ocean view. The second bedroom had twin beds which was a consideration for us when selecting a condo. The condo is fully equipped with the essentials you need for your stay. The wooden furniture in the living area is very beautiful. The management company responded quickly to problems we encountered. Thank you for that. Overall, it was a great stay & we had a great time. I do think however that the condo is in need of some TLC & upgrades. It looks a little “tired”. I would hope that management would invest in improvements & make this great condo even better. David A.

It had everything we needed from beach towels, beach chairs, fully stocked kitchen supplies, and an amazing view of the ocean. Feb 16, 2022 What a view! This condo was absolutely amazing. Every morning we enjoyed coffee and breakfast with a 'million dollar' view. We never tired of counting the whales. The resort had a great family friendly pool, and all the best snorkeling spots were only a short 5 minute drive. The condo had all the amenities, and some nice extras (beach bags, chairs and sand toys) for our beach days. We will definitely be re-booking! Mahalo! Patricia W.
Jan 20, 2025 Probably the most beautiful view in the building! The suite had everything we needed. Only recommendation would be to have instructions on connecting the TVs in suite to the Internet. Reached out for assistance and didn’t get a resolution during the stay. Was able to connect to the rooms wifi via my cell though! My family had another suite in the same building and had no issues. They couldn’t figure out what was wrong with ours either. Jayme Selanoff

Feb 06, 2025 The condo was excellent, exactly as described, and comfortable. The location is great, right in Ka'anapali, and next door to a great cinnamon roll shop, Papi's. The A/C was a bit tricky as the auto setting didn't seem to work but it chilled us plenty on the fan setting. We had a great view of sunsets from the balcony! Zachary Cremer
