Magnificent!

The property was beautiful with a terrific view of the water, the sunset, and the whales. It was equipped with everything we needed to prepare food. There’s a grocery store, several restaurants, and multiple food trucks within walking distance. I would stay again.

Mahana in Ka'anapali

Mahana property overall - cannot get more oceanfront than this condo complex. Complex does have a nice pool & hot tub (pool goes to 9' depth, which is great!) and also on-site tennis court (single court). The one downside you should be aware of is that the beach in front of the complex is not usable for anything other than surfing or SUP. Short drive will get you to nice family-friendly beaches though. With respect to unit 718: + Unit was as described on VRBO. Clean, has been upgraded, kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, etc. Plenty of beach supplies as well - 4 beach chairs, sand toys for the kids, 2 sand umbrellas. - Checkin was a bit irritating to be honest. We have stayed in condos on different islands over 20 times and this was the first time we did not receive the door code literally until check-in time (3:00 p.m.). I fully understand that if there are back to back reservations the cleaning crew will need as much time as possible to get the unit ready for the next guest, but we have asked for early access just to drop off perishable items purchased at COSTCO - in and out of the unit in less than 5 minutes. Every other management company has accomodated that request.

Loved Mahana 718

We really enjoyed our stay at Mahana 718. The unit was clean and well stocked. The view was amazing and it felt like we were on the beach even when we were in the unit. The bed was comfy and the beach gear was a very nice touch. The management company was helpful, they are even willing to work with us about some unexpected remodeling noise in another unit. Overall we would stay here again and recommend it to others!

Beautiful Condo

You seriously feel like you’re on a cruise ship watching the waves roll in outside your huge windows! Beautiful unit. They have beach chairs, umbrellas and towels to use on the beach. Dukes is a short walk to the resort next door. Management was on point will any of our needs. We cannot wait to come back! Greg S.

The views from this unit were incredible! We really enjoyed spending time in the lanai in the mornings and evenings, because of the views. The only drawback was that there was no A/C during our stay, but were made aware of this issue when we made our reservation. Sep 25, 2024 Beautiful Condo with Amazing Views! From the moment we entered the unit we knew that we had chosen the perfect place for our stay in Maui. The condo was in perfect condition, exactly as pictured and described. And the location was amazing! Walk out the condo right to the beach, with great snorkeling right there. The sun set directly in front of our Lanai every evening, a spectacular vision. All you need for the beach is provided - chairs, umbrellas, cooler, water jugs, even beach toys if you have kids - we couldn't have asked for more. The management company was very communicative - making sure we were able to get into the unit okay, checking in during our stay, and reminding us of the check-out procedures. A supermarket, Snorkel Bobs, a few restaurants, and a huge food truck set-up are all right across the street, all within walking distance. We never used the pool, but it was a nice area as well with chairs, loungers, tables with umbrellas, etc. We highly recommend this rental unit and will choose it again the next time we are able to return to Maui. Sep 25, 2024 Fantastic! Fantastic trip to Maui in this beautiful property! Whales were right in front breaching all day long. Turtles were swimming right down below our balcony. The property was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The location was very central to activities, restaurants, and walking paths. Food trucks were very close too which was a nice break from a restaurant. Snorkeling right outside our place was incredible!! The view from this property was so amazing. Sep 25, 2024 Beautiful oceanfront condo Mahana 718 is a beautiful condo that is oceanfront and high enough to view whales, turtles, and in our case a Hawaiian monk seal. We had 2 small problems. The check-in process was confusing. We were not familiar with the property. There are multiple towers on the property and no one attends any of the desks in the lobby of the property. The a/c in the condo is loud and runs most of the time. Other than these 2 problems, the condo was wonderful and we would stay again. Carla S.

We loved having the sliders open allowing the ocean breeze to flow thru even keeping them open at night to listen to the crashing waves. The unit was spotlessly clean and well stocked with all the kitchen utensils, dishes and pans you may need for a longer stay. We appreciated the beach chairs that were available for our use and the ability to do laundry right in the unit. The one and only downside was that the microwave wasn’t working but with some ingenuity on our part we managed to work around that. Dec 06, 2024 Aloha! My family of four which includes a four year old and a ten year old, loved this place. It was oceanfront and located right on the beach. This location is perfect for folks with families as there are so many amenities. The condo is perfect as we had exactly what we needed to cook and do laundry. We only had one small downside of having a small pest, that’s local to the island but other than that it really was not that big of an issue and was managed prior to our arrival. May 27, 2024 Unit should not be rented Love Mahana but room 718 should not be rented. AC was being repaired & we did not read the fine print. There’s were portable AC units that blew hot air to the lanai & never lowered the themp below 83. 88 when we arrived. Slider to outside could not be locked & tubes from AC were a tripping hazard. Not safe! Moved to nw location at a higher rate No refund to us!!! Jerilyn F.

Nov 11, 2023 Absolutely perfect! When I go back to Maui, I will absolutely stay in this unit again! From the basic location-location-location to the subtle details (7th floor and this particular location in relation to the palm trees) is perfection. It's beautifully appointed, right down to the fact that they included water jugs and sunscreens for outings! The lanai is perfectly situated - any lower and we would have heard the waves a bit too much (maybe)...any higher and we wouldn't have had such a fantabulous view of the SEA TURTLES that were constantly showing off below our room. A bit to the right and a gorgeous palm tree may have been in our way - a bit to the left, and - well, it was perfectly situated! The beach in front of the unit is an amazing place to snorkel! There was NO ONE on our beach or in the water where we were (except us) ~ the snorkeling was just as good as some of the bays we visited, including Honoloa, which is supposed to be among the best. We LOVED the L&L Hawaiian restaurant across the street as well as the amazing food trucks adjacent to the property. Everything we needed, including a grocery store, snorkel gear, food... was within easy walking distance. Overall, the resort is in a great location - just north of Lahaina, but out of the way of the crowded resorts like Sheraton (still within walking distance of Black Rock, albeit a bit of a jaunt). The team was responsive when we had questions before we arrived. We give it an EASY 100% perfect rating! Danna V.

It feels like you are out on the water. The unit had everything we needed to make our stay easy and comfortable. Apr 11, 2023 Whale watching My husband and I came here for just two days of rest and relaxation after working several days on another island. The listing said that you may see Whales through the end of March. Well, we were not hopeful, since it was the very end of March. Boy were we surprised, we saw them breaching -whole families of them. Mar 10, 2023 Exactly as advertised This was a spectacular place to stay. We saw numerous whales out our window every day. The condo was super clean and comfortable. Communication with the owner was timely and helpful. We slept with the sliding door open to listen to the surf crashing just below us. We truly appreciated the coolers, beach chairs, and beach towels. So convenient to have a washer/dryer. We wanted privacy, a view of the water, and a homey feel.We couldn't have anticipated how wonderful our stay would be. The condo had just changed ownership and there was brand new furniture, appliances and beach supplies. The owners and Hawaii Life clearly put so much thought into making the condo comfortable and stylish. That view!!! I still can't get over it!Megan from Hawaii Life greeted us on our check in and welcomed us into the unit. There was a thoughtful welcome package and a helpful binder on local restaurants, activities, and services. Megan was available to answer questions and concerns for us during our stay, but we really didn't contact her at all since everything was so perfect.The beach equipment was brand new and of great quality. Everything was sparkling clean! The only slight negative (and this is so minor) was that the washer/dryer was older and couldn't hold a lot in it.We wholeheartedly recommend the Mahana 718 for anyone looking for a quiet slice of paradise! Loved the building complex and folks there - staff was wonderful and friendly. The complex is probably a little better suited for mature couples or people without children as the beach is sandy but due to the coral, there is no swimming in front of the complex. A short 1/2 mile boardwalk took us to the public beach. The condo could really use either a new furnace/air conditioning system or a tune-up. It did cool the unit but it was so terribly noisy to run that it often was easier just to turn it off. Deb W.

Oct 22, 2021 Beautiful views, comfortable stay Overall, the condo was wonderful. The communication was kind, easy, and fast. The bedding was comfortable and the views, oh man the views we still miss. you cannot beat those windows and balcony. There was a sea turtle that would come to shore right below the condo about the same time daily for the week that we stayed which was so fun to watch. There were plenty of towels, hot water, and all you need to enjoy your stay. There are restaurants, food trucks, a store to rent snorkel gear, and a grocery store all within walking distance. I would give this property 5 stars under normal circumstances. Although they mention the construction, we did not realize the noise would start at 7:20am each weekday morning and be too loud to remain in the unit as they worked on units to each side of us. I cannot stress how loud it was and the sealant they sprayed smelled awful and was all over the balcony, we wiped it down daily. Fortunately, we would come back in the afternoons and the noise was far less and bearable. I would highly recommend staying here but only once the construction is complete. Kristine G.
Oct 12, 2021 Awesome Views As far as the unit itself goes, it was very well appointed, and the views are awesome. Under normal circumstances, this unit would be a great place to stay and we would highly recommend it, normally. We have nothing negative to say about the unit, the owner, or the property manager. We have stayed at the Mahana in other units, several times over the years, and absolutely love staying there. However, the construction that is currently going on in the Lanai'i tower, is much more significant than what we understood from the website posting. There is Major renovation going on, not only with the exterior of the tower itself, but also interior renovations with all the units surrounding this particular unit. We could not stay the unit during the day, at all, as the noise was unbearable, especially from the unit directly overhead, and had to make sure we found other things to do, during the day. I would NOT recommend staying in the Lanai'i tower at all, until the building renovations are completed. Would love to stay in this unit again, when all the renovations are complete. Jay H.

Mar 31, 2021 Meghan to the rescue. We were scheduled to stay at the same condo complex, but our co do booking got canceled due to maintenance. We were moved to a respite near by, but the view was not what I’d paid for and we were very upset. I checked VRBO and there this condo was. It hadn’t been available when we first got to Maui. I got ahold of Meghan and she booked us for the rest of our trip at a great price. She made everything so welcoming and homey. Mar 29, 2021 Unit was mostly as advertised. We have stayed at the Mahana many times over the years and it is our favorite place. This particular unit has great views without the palm trees in the way which you need to consider on units below the 7th floor. The unit has not really been updated much since it was built in the 1970's as compared to most units in the Mahana with the exception of new carpeting. Furniture was clean and somewhat new. The first thing we noticed was there was no place to put your feet up unless you want to lay on the couch. A chaise lounge on Lanai would have been nice. The plastic transition mats on carpet are tacky though. We were long term renters staying for 6 weeks. On the first day we realized the glass and screen slider to the Lenai did not work at all. Sent a note to mgt company and they sent a guy to fix the glass slider ( 2 hr project to replace rusted wheels) He wouldn't fix the screen slider because it wasn't his area and the mgt company never sent anyone else. Also in booking the reservation we were looking for a long term discount but mgt company said they would follow up with us after talking to owner but never did. Two weeks after our stay we had to send the mgt company an email to request our security deposit credit back which we thought should have happened the week after we left. Overall you can never go wrong at the Mahana if you want to just chill. Mgt company could have been more repsonsive IMO. We understand the unit just went under agreement so maybe new owners will make some changes. Paul T.

Jan 04, 2020 Mahana in Ka'anapali Mahana property overall - cannot get more oceanfront than this condo complex. Complex does have a nice pool & hot tub (pool goes to 9' depth, which is great!) and also on-site tennis court (single court). The one downside you should be aware of is that the beach in front of the complex is not usable for anything other than surfing or SUP. Short drive will get you to nice family-friendly beaches though. With respect to unit 718: + Unit was as described on VRBO. Clean, has been upgraded, kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, etc. Plenty of beach supplies as well - 4 beach chairs, sand toys for the kids, 2 sand umbrellas. - Checkin was a bit irritating to be honest. We have stayed in condos on different islands over 20 times and this was the first time we did not receive the door code literally until check-in time (3:00 p.m.). I fully understand that if there are back to back reservations the cleaning crew will need as much time as possible to get the unit ready for the next guest, but we have asked for early access just to drop off perishable items purchased at COSTCO - in and out of the unit in less than 5 minutes. Every other management company has accomodated that request. Kai R.

Jul 23, 2019 Amazing view! This is the second time we have stayed at the Aston Mahana Resort and it is our favorite. We had a 1 bedroom unit. You literally have floor to ceiling windows of the ocean! It looks like you are on a cruise ship you are THAT close to the ocean. This unit was beautifully decorated and very clean. They even had a box of chocolate macadamia nuts waiting for us. Everything worked as well! Usually something doesn’t work when you stay somewhere but everything worked great and I felt that they really had thought of everything you would need. Reviewer Comments: This was a great condo and a great experience for our 10 Day stay on Maui. First, the condo was in a perfect location, right on the beach. The condo itself was well supplied with all you might need in the kitchen and for the beach. A grocery store a couple of blocks away made it easy to get anything we needed for stocking the fridge. The bed was very comfortable - in fact it made us realize we need to get a new one ourselves. Two things would have made this stay perfect. First, when we first opened the door, we were met with badly stained and dirty carpets. This was a turn off, as you might imagine. Second, Megan, the person responsible for the unit was less than responsive - we needed to get the code for the safe a second time because we had lost the first text and it took most of the day to get a response - got the impression she was just frustrated with us loosing the message the first time. Thankfully, we didn't need to call her for anything else. Really, how hard is it to send the code a second time. Other than these two things, the stay couldn't have been better. Mark R.

Reviewer Comments: This was our second stay at Mahana, this time we came with family, three rooms total. Our room was clean and very comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised to find beach chairs, towels, and toys in the closet (very convenient). Our grandson enjoyed building sand castles and boogie boarding right outside our door. We were there for our son’s wedding and our daughter’s engagement. Lahaina is just down the road, 10 minute trip to all the restaurants and shops you could ask for. Make meals in your condo or go out, it’s up to you. There are many grills available if you want to BBQ. Walk across the street to great restaurants, grocery shopping, snorkeling equipment. We flew to Kapalua airport this time instead of Kahului (I recommend). Our favorite places to dine were Captain Jack’s, Kimo’s, Paia Fishmarket, Java Jazz, and The Mill House. Don’t miss Old Lahaina Luau, the best luau on the island. When we come back we will stay here again. Kevin J.

Reviewer Comments: Positives: The condo was just as expected, perhaps better with the view, not sure any picture can do that justice. Well stocked with towels and beach supplies. Kitchen was great. We really enjoyed falling asleep to the sound of the ocean every night and the new bed was VERY comfortable. The pull out sofa slept my 11-yo step daughter and she said it was great. It was very easy to use at night and a quick clean up each morning. We really loved this place and have recommended it to friends, hoping to come back soon! Negatives: these are all super minor, really nit-picking here but as others have said the carpet is very outdated. Really wouldn't care about that but I did step on a carpet tack and that wasn't pleasant; just moved a rug to cover that area. The Lanai also didn't have any outdoor lighting which was a bummer for dinner. Lastly management was about 50/50 for responding but when they did they were very helpful and pleasant. I believe it's 2 people so it's possible that I was just always contacting one and it could have been their day off :). Nothing was urgent though so everything worked out great! Ali W.

It's very well-kept, nicely decorated, and very clean. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking and baking. The hall closet is stocked with all the beach gear you'll need, including two large cooler bags, which was so nice! Some old reviews said something about the bed being uncomfortable, but they must have replaced it since then, because it was lovely. The owner/manager was very responsive and accommodating, even granting our last- minute request for a late check-out. The location is awesome; besides being directly on the beach, there are grocery shopping and restaurants very nearby. A great moped rental place is a short walk up the street. Duke's Beach House restaurant next door is an awesome place for dinner or happy hour (have the hula pie for dessert). All the nearby resorts were upscale and the neighborhood was amazing. The Mahana grounds are beautiful and the pool is gorgeous. If we were to return to Maui, I wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else! Jason W.

You couldn't ask for anything more from the was hard to tear ourselves away from the lanai every evening. Mahana's location is also excellent. There are a few restaurants within walking distance and it was a short drive for anything else we wanted to do in the area. We hope to be back someday! Reviewer Comments: The Mahana is a wonderful property if you are looking for a quiet getaway where you can do your own thing, and focus on the surroundings. All condos are true oceanfront, and the view does not get any better, not even at any of the other 5+ star properties. There's a pool, hot tub, and bbq's so you can prepare dinner to enjoy on your lanai to watch the sunset over the ocean. If you want pool slides, hotel bars, gym, etc then this is not the place for you. Our unit had upgraded LR furniture, a beautiful upgraded kitchen, state of the art TVs. Check in and checkout was a breeze. We had a maintenance issue but it was handled very quickly and professionally. On the downside, the carpet needs to be cleaned or replaced (not sure), and while the rest of the condo was clean, the shower doors need a professional cleaning. Overall, I'm sure management will be addressing the carpet and shower door issues and with so many other incredible attributes going for it I would recommend this vacation rental. Diane S.

Jan 15, 2018 Great views! We spent a little over a week at Mahana 718. The condo is exactly as described. The views are amazing. We couldn't take our eyes off the windows the entire time we were there. It has almost everything you could need. We did purchase some tongs for cooking on the grill downstairs, but otherwise the unit was fully stocked. We had a great visit and were close to good restaurants, the beach, pool, night life and groceries. I would definitely consider this unit again when we return to Maui. Sophia M.

Reviewer Comments: This will have been our 3rd time using VRBO to book a Maui stay. 3 years in a row. I love using VRBO because the variety of options. We have stayed along Kaanapali beach each stay. Our first visit was at Maui Kai and we loved the corner penthouse condo. But, overtime we walked by Mahana, we said how much we would like to stay there. So, the next year and this year we did stay at Mahana. Last year was a studio and was wonderful. We stayed 17 nights, and that was an amazing visit. This year we made a last minute reservation as we were not planning on a Maui trip at all. We were lucky enough that the Mahana 718 was available. The 1br/1ba was beautiful, appointed with everything we needed. The balcony was great, but the open living room and HUGE floor to ceiling windows were such a bonus. Our stay was short, only 7 nights. We could easily spend 2 weeks or longer in this condo. The Mahana property itself was under some remodeling. There was a bit of inconvenience, but it did not ruin our fun. The grounds remained beautiful and inviting. The pool area was clean and relaxing with a view of the ocean just steps away. Jason B.

It was an easy drive to Lahaina and to all the wonderful northwest Maui beaches. Great snorkeling, with a variety of sea life, was just steps from the door. Watching the sunset between Lanai and Molokai was such a peaceful way to mark the end of each day. The condo was clean, quiet, well maintained and inviting. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and cooking utensils. We used the beach gear daily. Did we mention the awesome view?! Jeremy was kind and prompt when dealing with slight check-in glitch. The bed was too soft for us and the down comforter was too heavy. I ended up buying a light weight blanket to use. The location was great. Very easy to get to from the main road. Pool and hot tub were awesome. The beach entry is rocky right in front but just to the south the beach is more sandy. The beach walk just through the gate was fantastic. Mar 21, 2017 Outstanding property This property is a beautiful, well-decorated condo and our stay there was everything we hoped for. The property manager was very helpful, friendly and oriented us quickly and effectively. The resort is quiet and relaxing in contrast to some of the bigger resorts up and down the beach. Specifically, this unit has a beautiful private lanai that offers spectacular beach and ocean view from its seventh floor location. Time can slip away as you watch whales breech and spout from the living room or lanai with the islands of Molokai and Lanai as their backdrop. Beautiful sunsets just capped off the days. The unit provides beach towels, chairs, coolers and boogie board making a trip to the great beaches easy and delightful. A small shopping center just a short walk away was very convenient for any essentials. We will definitely plan another stay, next time for sure a little longer.

Reviewer Comments: We have stayed at the Mahana a handful of times, each time in a different Unit. The views from the Mahana are second to none. Each unit is absolutely Ocean Front. There is no beach, per se in front of the unit as the rocks are prohibitive, but you can walk 2 minutes easily to a swimming beach. A short walk and across the street is the grocery store and some other shops. There is a way cool little restaurant that has Lillikoi Gelato to die for !! We had several communication breakdowns dealing with this property manager. It all worked out in the end, but I prefer to not have to make several calls. Rissa S.

The location is great--the beach is perfect for walking, snorkeling, or lounging. There's a boardwalk that goes about 1 mile but you can go even further if you get around the black rock. Would be nice to even have a lantern or something to play cards on the deck in the evening. 2) The beach out front has a lot of coral.... you have to walk down to find a bit sandier of an entrance.... but we've come to expect that from most of the beaches in Kaanpali. Nov 27, 2016 Relaxing Birthday Getaway This was our second stay at the Mahana, however we loved the one bedroom layout of 718 so much more than the studio we stayed at before (plus no palm tree blocking our view this time!). The condo was perfect - comfortable furniture, all the amenities and kitchen gadgets you could think of and a lovely fresh remodel. Though there isn't a beach, the water view couldn't be beat. We enjoyed our walks on the boardwalk all the way down to the Sheraton and watching surfers straight out from our balcony. Two tips: the switch for the dishwasher is on the wall behind the sink and the washer needs a solid door-drop to start. Once we figured out these two steps - we were good to go. Loved being able to walk to the grocery store, coffee shop, pizza and snorkeling gear. Short drive to excellent turtle spots at Napili and Kapalua bays. We couldn't have anticipated how wonderful our stay would be. The condo had just changed ownership and there was brand new furniture, appliances and beach supplies. The owners and Hawaii Life clearly put so much thought into making the condo comfortable and stylish. That view!!! I still can't get over it! Megan from Hawaii Life greeted us on our check in and welcomed us into the unit. There was a thoughtful welcome package and a helpful binder on local restaurants, activities, and services. Megan was available to answer questions and concerns for us during our stay, but we really didn't contact her at all since everything was so perfect. The beach equipment was brand new and of great quality. Everything was sparkling clean! The only slight negative (and this is so minor) was that the washer/dryer was older and couldn't hold a lot in it. We wholeheartedly recommend the Mahana 718 for anyone looking for a quiet slice of paradise! We will definitely be back. Meredith P.

Jan 20, 2025 We had a great stay at Mahana, the beach was close, good restaurants nearby and close to the boardwalk for getting around. We spent a lot of time on the beach in front as it was quiet and the whales were out in droves. It was a very comfortable place and we look forward to hopefully staying again in the future.
