Wonderfully Perfect

We loved our stay! The staff was super friendly and helpful, we loved being able to use all the pools, workout room and access to the beach. The condo was beautifully decorated, a quick elevator ride and walk to the pool or beach, cozy beds and plenty of room to rejuvenate for another day. We enjoyed our morning coffee on the lani as well as breakfast and lunch. Our family of 5 with 3 teens, two being girls especially liked the large bathroom and were able to make only having one work just fine. The wagon, chairs and beach toys were a wonderful addition! Loved it!

My family (three adults and one 7 y/o), stayed at this condo for about a week, and we could not have been happier! It was very clean, and they provided ample stock of supplies. Beds were comfortable and the unit was quiet. The in-unit laundry was a must for us and very convenient. We used the kitchen often and it had all the utensils, pans, etc that we needed. We often ate on the balcony looking out at the well-maintained grounds and rainbows that would appear frequently toward the mountains. It is a quick walk to the pool(s), Duke's Restaurant (on property), and the beach. We used the provided beach chairs, umbrella, and wagon to haul our stuff nearly every day. The community BBQs near the pool are well maintained by the property staff. There is pretty good snorkeling at the beach nearby. We saw an array of beautiful fish, and even an occasional turtle. Black Rock and other well known snorkeling spots are not far away either. Parking is underground in the same building, and once we found the right elevator, was also easy and convenient. The property management was very responsive when we alerted them to a broken item--even promptly bringing over a replacement. It's always a little nerve wracking for me to choose a place to stay, especially for a week or more, but we had no regrets on this property choice once we saw it and experienced it for ourselves.

Wonderful visit

Communication with the owners and property manager was very easy, they were able to accommodate an early check in for us which made life with two toddlers much easier. The location is convenient and the resort was extremely family friendly.

First time in Maui! 2nd family Hawaii Trip!

My husband and three kids (17, 14, and 12) stayed at this condo for 7 nights. All of us slept great (cold central a/c, black out curtains), the kitchen was well stocked with everything if you want to cook your own meals, beach towels and chairs were provided, a portable high chair was provided and two pack and plays. I saw a lot of families making use of the outdoor BBQ’s. You only need to bring your personal items with you and you don’t need to bring so much clothing because there is a washer and dryer in the unit for you to do laundry. What I liked about the condo the most was the location and the amenities that Honua Kai has to offer. I thought I was far from a lot of popular snorkel spots, places to eat, and places to shop, but you’re not. It’s a 10 minute drive at the most depending on your destination. If you don’t want to go exploring on your own, don’t worry you can book a tour onsite in the lobby. You can even book a photo opportunity with a professional photographer if you want to. The grounds at Honua Kai are beautiful. The pool area is busy and my family never had a problem finding a chair to sit on. I did see people ordering food and drinks from Duke’s and just hanging out at the pool. You can watch a beautiful sunset from the resort every night. If you don’t want to leave the resort and want to feel like you’re on vacation this is the place for you. If you want to explore other parts of Maui and eat elsewhere then you can do just that. After driving to other parts of Maui, my family was happy to come back to this condo. We had the space we needed and didn’t mind sharing a bathroom. It felt liked a home to us. I was the first person to rent this condo from Jill after she purchased it from Will. Jill was in contact with me and wanted to make sure I had all the information about the condo before my vacation. Monty the on island contact, checked in on me a few times to see if everything was good and that I got into the condo. Thank you Jill, Will, and Monty! Work will take place on weekdays from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with no weekend work expected unless the project falls behind schedule.

This place however was way better than any hotel I have stayed at. Spacious, comfortable and provided all the things I needed to enjoy a week exploring. I would 100% recommend staying here! Sep 14, 2024 Great place to stay in Kaanapali I highly recommend staying at this property. The property managers were kind and attentive, they made our stay very convenient and pleasant. The condo was very clean and had every amenity we could ask for, including everything necessary to make my 18 month old son very comfortable and happy (high chair, sleeping cot and even a stroller). Thr property is conveniently located on a resort with many amazing and beautiful pools, a great restaurant and beachfront access that is breathtaking. I couldn’t have asked for anything more. Jun 12, 2024 Location is great but won't stay at this specific one again The resort itself was very nice but we had some issues with the apartment. The AC didn't work very well so it was difficult to sleep at night. Another frustrating thing was the rules said not to bring sand into the apartment or you lose your deposit (which is a significant amount of money). This was almost impossible to do since you're living close to the beach and we had little kids. So no matter how much or often we rinsed off before entering the apt, there was still sand in there. So we spent a lot of time sweeping the apt which was annoying considering it was a vacation. I also reached out to the management for a recommendation for dinner reservations and nobody got back to me. Audrey F.

Jul 21, 2023 Good all around for us This was our first time visiting Maui and this place was perfect for our family of four. The property managers were very responsive, the resort was perfect for when we wanted to hang around the condo (the pools are great and part of why we booked at this location, my son loved the water slide,) and getting to places on the island from here was easy. I would stay here again anytime and recommend it to others. It was so nice to prepare our own meals and save some money to use elsewhere. The only thing I found slightly bothersome (and I mean slightly) is that there are only 4 plates. We had to wash them after every meal, so we had them for the next one as opposed to getting to use the dishwasher and if we were a family of more than 4 we’d be out of luck (listing says it sleeps 6, so…) The beach near the property had turtles we went to watch every evening, there’s a boardwalk that was great for my morning runs and when I didn’t do that I was able to use the fitness room, and parking was really easy. The unit itself has comfortable beds, couches and chairs, and a great lanai. Even though there are people in units above, below and on either side, we didn’t hear them more than if we were in a detached home. J D.

From the start we had issues in the room and the contat we were assigned to disappeared. The curtains in the room were broken (and disgustingly dirty) and dryer door was broken and wouldnt stay shut, and the new furniture was so top heavy that when you opened a drawer the whole thing would fall. my 7 year old was injured from a huge dresser falling on him and when I reported it, I heard NOTHING back. Now they are holding our deposit with no explanation and its been almost 2 weeks since checkout. We left that place in great condition. We were hoping to come back next year but sadly wont if this property manager is still overseeing this unit. Katie B.
Nov 27, 2022 Never stay in this unit. This unit was advertised as being remodeled with a wonderful view. The fact of the matter is it was not remodeled, the fold-out couch was broken and had to be replaced the way we were here. The view is horrible. The communication both at check-in and trying to deal with the problem was horrible. I rented three other units for the same week, and there was no problem. I would never use this unit or recommend anybody to do so. I tried to work with the property manager to get the matter resolved as to a credit, and what they offered was laughable. The host asked for my arrival time which was 11 am and didn’t say anything after that so I was under assumption we could check in shortly after our arrival and that was not the case. We could not check in until 3 pm so we asked if we could use the pools while waiting and the concierge said no. Didn’t seem like they even checked guests using the pools so felt it was rude to tell us no. Anyways a firm check in of 3 pm could have been addressed way before day of arrival. Nov 04, 2021 Perfection! We had the most amazing time in Maui and much of it was due to this condo! With little kids, we loved the convenience of the 2 bedrooms and kitchen but the property also has the benefits of a resort: we loved Dukes being right there (they were also offering poolside service while we were there), the beach was beautiful and our kids had the best time in the pools! The unit was clean and lovely and we spent a lot of time enjoying the lanai (we had breakfast out there most mornings but do yourself a favor and walk across the street to Slappycakes at least once). Sep 18, 2021 HAD A SUPER ALOHA TIME! There were four adults and this condo was PERFECT (even though it only had one bathroom). The bathroom was spacious, with two sinks; master bedroom was nicely appointed as was the 2nd bedroom. It was extremely clean. Beds, kitchen, internet, A/C all worked fine. Prop manager, Monty, was available by text when we needed him. Jill and Garreth kindly responded to all my emails and concerned for our car rental and restaurant needs. We had a handicap placard so we nvr had an issue with parking. THE GROUNDS ARE FABULOUS! We would definitely stay AT THIS CONDO AGAIN! ...hopefully next year! THANK YOU Jill, Garreth & Monty! Jul 31, 2021 Resort stay/condo The condo is within a complex, so you get a nice mix of home cooking or if you choose Duke’s restaurant is available for pool side, takeaway or in dining. Make reservations way in advance for any restaurants. We couldn't get much trying a week in advance. The pools are plentiful, but crowded and they dont have enough seats, a-lot of people brought and used beach chairs around the pool, which works, and the unit had 4 in the closet as well as umbrellas. The ocean in front of the condo has a lot of coral, wear the water shoes. The tvs doesn’t have netflix or amazon as an option, but lots of cable channels . The unit was clean and quiet and the property manager very responsive, the coffee pot wasn’t working and he replaced same day. Cenk K.

Apr 30, 2021 Absolutely Wonderful In a nutshell, the unit and property were incredibly beautiful and well taken care of. The location was perfect and a short drive from everything we had planned in Lahaina. This is a unit we will be returning to our next trip to Maui. We arrived late at night which meant we had to check in with Security. They were all very nice and helped us to our room with our bags/groceries. They told us there might be a problem with parking in the underground garage, but we never had an issue finding a spot. Monty checked in with us first thing in the morning to make sure everything went smoothly and was very helpful with anything we needed. I was most impressed with all the amenities Gareth and Jill provided - they thought of everything! The condo was completely stocked and the "beach closet" was awesome. The chairs, pool noodles, boogie boards, beach toys were great. The kiddos were so excited when they opened that door and saw what was inside. It may have been midnight but they wanted to take all the toys to the beach right at that moment! The property as a whole was great also. We loved that there was a grocery store across the street and two small stores on the property. Duke's was amazing and a wonderful spot to watch the sunset (and the kitties). There was only one downside but it was absolutely no one's fault: It seemed some of the lounge chairs at the pools had been removed which made getting a spot after 8am extremely difficult, so I suggest arriving earlier than that. Mar 23, 2021 Great vacation rental This is a great value for your $$ in a building where most properties are 2x more expensive. We were okay with it only having one bathroom (it's an extra large one) because we're a family - but if you are staying with another couple that may pose an issue. The location is wonderful - a very quick walk to the beach and Duke's (where we ate breakfast and sometimes lunch by the pool). The rental had so many great amenities - sand toys, chairs, a cooler, a fan, pool noodles, all of which came in super handy for us. Also, we utilized the washer and dryer every day, so that was a must and a great amenity! This has nothing to do with the rental, but we had a really tough time finding adequate parking - even though the building has a large parking garage. We found that numerous SUVs would take two spaces, and we were actually turned away at one point because it was FULL. This seemed crazy to us, as most groups only rent a single vehicle, but we visited during Spring Break. It wouldn't be our ideal time to visit Maui - the weather was a bit rough - it rained five out of seven days and the wind was crazy. One day our Duke's poolside ended up all over us! But that's to be expected in March. We attended a wedding, so we didn't get to choose the week, but I would come in a quieter time next time, just so we could enjoy the pool and actually get into local restaurants (2 hour waits due to covid). One other thing - the pool did not have adequate lounges at the pool - there were people sprawled out on the grass and concrete (us included). The pool definitely is at capacity, but they obviously removed some of the lounge chairs to accommodate some social distancing. Again, this has nothing to do with the rental, but something to take note of if you are vacationing during a busy time. Get there right when the pool opens - or 15 min before! :-) We love this condo and would definitely consider it again in the future when we return to Maui! Rachel H.
Feb 23, 2021 Beautiful Jill Is great to work with. The unit is very nice The property itself is beautiful. We were there during Covid so my only complaint is the pool chairs were gone most days but Jill provided beach chairs so we just brought those down most days. Parking can also be hard to find in the garages at night. The beach has rock and coral making it hard to swim but still doable. Swimmable beaches nearby as well. The pool is very kid friendly but also has an adult area/feel as well. So many pools and hot tubs. We will definitely stay here again. Katie B.
Feb 22, 2021 Loved our stay The condo is perfect for a family with young children. My kids absolutely loved the water slide in the pool. We enjoyed snorkeling right from the condo. The lanai is lovely. Really nice to have the beach/pool towel exchange system so you don’t have to worry about trying to dry your towels just drop off the wet/sandy ones at the kiosk and get new ones for the next day. They checked on on us to make sure everything was going well. The room was beautiful and clean and it was perfect for our family vacation. Feb 10, 2020 Wonderful Property! We could not have asked for a better property for our family of three. The room was clean, comfortable, and nicely updated. Monty, the onsite manager, was very easy to get in touch with if needed. Honua Kai is a family-oriented resort with a lazy river, shallow pool areas for young children, a water slide, multiple hot tubs, and plenty of large pools. Duke's restaurant is on site as well, which was convenient. There are waiters/waitresses around the pools to take orders if you'd like. We stayed in February and the beach was a bit rough for swimming, but still provided good entertainment for our four year old. Our 10 and 13 year old niece and nephew stayed during the same time as us and enjoyed the resort and beach equally as well as our young son. We would either drive or Uber into Lahaina, which was about a 10 minute ride. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to book this unit again in the future. Brittney B.

Oct 18, 2018 Wonderful experience at Honua Kai We recently stayed 10 nights at Konea 206 and were so happy with the experience. My husband and I travelled with our three year old daughter. The condo was spacious and comfortable. The beach gear and umbrella stroller really came in handy. The property was great and the pools were beautiful. The beach right outside the resort was wonderful for snorkeling. Duke's restaurant, while a bit pricey, had great dinner options. The resort is close to so many beaches and locations to visit within a short drive. Jill was very quick to respond to emails and answered all our questions. She even extended our check out time to accommodate a late flight. We loved our vacation found it to be a good value. We are looking forward to when we can do it again! Mary ann F.
Sep 24, 2018 A perfect get away for a family of four with the grandparents! We loved Konea Room 206! We do not want to leave! Jill the new owner of the place was really helpful and kept in contact with me through all the details of checking in and checking out of the room. Review of the Room: The room had everything we needed, we were able to cook our meals if we wanted, the beds were comfortable and the linens, towels and furniture were clean. Each room had its own tv. Also the room had booster seat for the my 2 yo, pack and play, tommy Bahamas beach chairs, beach umbrella, sand toys and boogie boards! The room is also a quick walking distance to the pools and beach. Review of the Resort The Resort is also amazing! There were multiple pools for the kids and adults! We loved the water slide and the toddler pool. The gym was really cool so many equipment you need to get a good workout. Also the beach is a quick walking distance and can watch beautiful sunsets! The Location The place is about 40 min drive from Kahului Airport but the drive is beautiful and goes by fast. There is a Time Supermarket across the street to buy the food you need to cook or drive down about 5 minutes to Whalers Village for good shopping and restaurants, also Old Lahaina is 10 minute drive as well for shopping and local eats! Oh one more thing there is Duke’s Restaurant on the property :) My husband and I can’t stop raving about the place and would love to come back again! Janine Klair A.
Jul 26, 2018 First time in Maui! 2nd family Hawaii Trip! My husband and three kids (17, 14, and 12) stayed at this condo for 7 nights. All of us slept great (cold central a/c, black out curtains), the kitchen was well stocked with everything if you want to cook your own meals, beach towels and chairs were provided, a portable high chair was provided and two pack and plays. I saw a lot of families making use of the outdoor BBQ’s. You only need to bring your personal items with you and you don’t need to bring so much clothing because there is a washer and dryer in the unit for you to do laundry. What I liked about the condo the most was the location and the amenities that Honua Kai has to offer. I thought I was far from a lot of popular snorkel spots, places to eat, and places to shop, but you’re not. It’s a 10 minute drive at the most depending on your destination. If you don’t want to go exploring on your own, don’t worry you can book a tour onsite in the lobby. You can even book a photo opportunity with a professional photographer if you want to. The grounds at Honua Kai are beautiful. The pool area is busy and my family never had a problem finding a chair to sit on. I did see people ordering food and drinks from Duke’s and just hanging out at the pool. You can watch a beautiful sunset from the resort every night. If you don’t want to leave the resort and want to feel like you’re on vacation this is the place for you. If you want to explore other parts of Maui and eat elsewhere then you can do just that. After driving to other parts of Maui, my family was happy to come back to this condo. We had the space we needed and didn’t mind sharing a bathroom. It felt liked a home to us. I was the first person to rent this condo from Jill after she purchased it from Will. Jill was in contact with me and wanted to make sure I had all the information about the condo before my vacation. Monty the on island contact, checked in on me a few times to see if everything was good and that I got into the condo. Thank you Jill, Will, and Monty! The place was beautiful and well equipped - comfy beds, lots of kitchen tools and dishes, great washer/dryer. We loved that Will even supplied beach chairs and beach toys. The beach itself at the resort is a little rocky, but smooth beaches are close by. Duke’s Restaurant is on site and delicious. Duke’s offers the food and drinks and a be pool too. While there were lots of people at the pools, there were always a few seats. We loved Honea Kai, Konea 206 and would recommend it to anyone coming to Maui!!! Verified traveler

Jan 08, 2018 Fantastic stay at Honua Kai 206! Will’s property was perfect for our family - 2 adults and 2 older teenage boys. One son slept in the den/ 2nd bedroom and the other slept on the pull out couch. They were happy to have their “own rooms” on this vacation. Conveniently located to parking garage, beach, pools, hot tubs and Duke’s. We ate at Duke’s several times for lunch and dinner and had delicious food each time. Monty was very responsive and made the check-in process very easy. We enjoyed coffee on the lanai in the mornings, and the lovely views. We also made a couple of meals in the kitchen, which is stocked with all necessary equipment. The beach chairs and towels and coolers were also much appreciated! Nov 28, 2017 Great vacation in a great condo We stated in Konea 206 from Nov 11 - 17th of this year. We travelled as a family, my wife and I with our 4 year old son and a 4 month old. The condo was clean, spacious, had all the regular supplies as well as many extra spices etc. The appliances all worked great and the view was even better than expected. There were plenty of beach toys and supplies(wagon, cooler, chairs, umbrella etc) and both the owner and property manager were great to deal with. The resort itself is very nice and was quiet during our stay. There is a grocery store across the street, only a couple of minutes walk. We will definitely be back to Honua Kai and if possible, back to this condo. Mandeep G.

Nov 10, 2017 Perfect for families with kids! This was our second time staying in Konea 206, and it feels like our "Maui home." We wouldn't stay at any other resort! We love Honua Kai for the kids - the waterslide, night time frog hunting, waterfalls, smoothies and drinks brought to you from Duke's while you relax watching the kids swim. We love room 206 because it is a two bedroom unit for the price of a one bedroom! The kids each had their own bed, one in the den (she loved the huge queen size bed!) and one on an air mattress in the living room. There is also a pull out couch bed for a third child. The room also has every other thing you could want -- two fans, a pack and play for little ones, booster seat, child swim floaties, child life vest, and all the beach gear you could need -- including an awesome wagon (we had SO many compliments on the wagon! If you rent a Chrysler minivan the wagon fits perfect in the back!). We also love the huge bathroom - we could all be in there and not feel crowded. We won't be staying anywhere else! The view was lovely, you can see the sunrise, mountains and peeka boo view of the ocean. The suite is stocked with everything you could need. We traveled with our toddler and used the travel crib & booster that were there. So helpful! Pools and beach are steps away. There is a shopping plaza with a grocery store a very short walk away. Sep 12, 2017 Great Accomodations! This is our 5th time to Maui but first time renting from Will in unit K206. We are a family of 4 with kids aged 5 and 2.5. The den had doors so it was like a second bedroom and worked out really well for us. The best part of the unit was having the foldable wagon to haul all the beach stuff down! It was so convenient to have that and with kids and all the gears, that made it really easy. This unit had a ton of extra stuff for you to use like beach toys, body boards, pack and plays, booster chairs and even an umbrella stroller! Will was great to work with! We had left our car phone holder at the condo and had sent a note to Will about it and he mailed it back to us. Monty met us for checkin and he was prompt and showed us the unit. We had thought we had some issues with the AC but it turned out to be fine but Monty was very quick in getting it checked out. We would definitely come back and rent from Will for sure! Kaitlyn S.

Aug 17, 2017 Highly recommend this unit We had stayed in Honua Kai Konea building in 2013 and wanted to come back to the same resort which is perfect for our family vacation. We were impressed with the unit in comparison to the previous one we stayed in- the owner really added some nice touches and nicely stocked the unit for renting . These extra touches made our stay very enjoyable. We were also surprised at how nice the den was - which includes a queen bed - not a pull out queen sofa as the description states. Very comfortable for the kids. The manager on call was very responsive and assisted with an issue we had very quickly. The view from the balcony was nice as well - with a partial ocean view and gorgeous mountain Side view. Very quick to access the pool and beach area. Look forward to coming back one day! Mahalo! Jul 14, 2017 Gorgeous spacious condo We are a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 teenage kids (19 and 16 so hardly kids.) I was concerned the condo may be a little small for our needs, but it wasn't. It was great. We loved it. It has everything you need plus more. And I like that our lanai was on the quiet side of the resort so we didn't get a lot of noise and the construction noise the other tower is impacted by, did not affect us at all. We even had water glimpses. This was our second stay at the Honua Kai and first at this condo and we should we make it back to Maui we will definitely stay there again. Will and Monty you two were both great. Made it a very seamless vacation. We own our own beach house in Australia, and hope our guests enjoy it as much as we enjoyed yours. Thank you. Sue M.

Dec 12, 2016 BEAUTIFUL CONDO- PERFECT EXPERIENCE Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful experience staying at Honua Kai and in Will's unit. The experience started when I was inquiring about the unit. Will was so prompt at answering all my questions. Then, when we had to change our reservation dates, Will was more than accommodating and made it such an easy transaction. Arriving and meeting Monty was super easy as well. Will and Monty were both very pleasant. The condo was just as it had been described in the listing. It is very spacious; which we loved. Every closet was filled with useful items- air mattresses, plenty of extra bedding/pillows, pack and play and high chair for small children, beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards for coolers. There were plenty of dishes for cooking/BBQing and dining in. The property was very clean and well maintained. We stayed for 12 days and they even had a mid stay cleaning which was really appreciated. The view from the linai was almost amazing, we had a partial ocean view but a full view of the lush, green mountainside. The unit was also very conveniently located near the elevator, which made traveling to the resort, parking lot or workout room super convenient. The only complaint I had, had nothing to do with the unit, bu the resort. There was quite a bit of construction going on. They closed Dukes the last two days we were there so we couldn't order anything poolside which was a bummer because those were our down days. And, they closed the workout area the last week for remodeling. I'm sure it will look amazing once it's finished. The resort is also in a great location. Close enough to Lahaina, Kaanapali Beach, Napili, Kapalua and DT Fleming. There's a grocery store right across the street so it's super convenient for grabbing any items you may need. It was such a wonderful experience. I would definitely stay there every time I visit Maui!! Dalia N.
Oct 17, 2016 Gorgeous, spacious, and perfect for families We've been to Maui multiple times and stayed at various locations, and our stay at Honua Kai was one of the best ever. We would absolutely stay there again and have already recommended it to some friends and relatives. Will was great with communication and we had all the info we needed as far as check-in, etc., and the condo had everything we needed. Most of the other reviews reflect this same info, and for good reason - this place was fantastic. Here are a few thoughts to keep in mind in case you're trying to decide where to stay: 1) This is basically a 2 BR/1 BA condo. The "den" is a bedroom with a door and everything - but it lacks a closet and window, and it shares a bath with the master. Since it's listed as a 1 BR with a den, you might be concerned about space. Don't be. It's plenty big for a family of 4 (kids aged 9 and 4), and we didn't even use the sofa bed. 2) The views are great. It's not facing the ocean (though you can technically see a portion of it off the edge of the deck), and it faces the mountains. If you're okay without an ocean view, you're probably not going to do better than this in the Kaanapaali area. 3) The condo is situated on the outside of the building, facing the other building on property. There's a large grassy area between the two buildings that opens up and affords the view mentioned above. Because of this alignment, the condo is really, really quiet. You're not on top of the pool, you're not facing any construction or a road or a parking lot. There's nobody gathering in the space between buildings. 4) There are LOTS of kids at this property. It's mostly families. The pool areas are designed for this. There's a waterslide and multiple kid pools. 5) The on-property restaurant, Duke's, is pretty good. Given it's location, it could have been sub-par, but we enjoyed several meals there. The gourmet market is good as well, but expensive. The good news if you're trying to save money is that you're literally across the street from a grocery store, and the condo has a full kitchen. 6) I can't speak for the rest of the property, but this condo does not have daily maid service. We knew about this going in, and it's priced accordingly. This was a non-factor for us. We are definitely going to keep this property at the top of our list the next time we travel to Maui. Paul P.

There were three of us in our group including two young girls, the setup was perfect for us. Having Dukes restaurant on property was wonderful! We enjoyed their food several times. Times grocery store is right across the street, Java Jazz is a fun place for breakfast. I would definitely recommend this unit to our friends as a good choice to stay while in the Lahina area. Aug 14, 2016 Would not go back to this place This place is just OK. We paid for a resort but actually had a view the road with lots of car noise. The owner could have made that clear. Refrigerator did not work the entire time- does not keep things cold enough and food starts to smell/go bad. The owner has NOTHING for you-no foil, no grill utensils, no salt/pepper-you have to buy ALL your own supplies-waste of money. Our washer never worked well- clothes smelled worse after washing them there. I washed small loads but couldn't get them clean. The appliances were fair at best, shiny but fair we paid a lot so we thought that it would be nicer but it wasn't. The gym is dirty. Dukes was overpriced and my teen ate there once and felt horrible after. The owner gave us a $100.00 gift card to Dukes, which we ended up not using. The elevator system is the worst- you wait and wait and wait. Would have taken the stairs but way out of the way- in my opinion this is not safe in case of a fire. This was probably our last trip to this part of Maui. monica r.

The unit is nicely appointed, with exceptional features, not only in the apartment, but the pools, and grounds which are excellent. The location is far enough away from Lahaina, for more privacy, but close enough for shopping. We will look forward to our next visit. Mike R.

However, I loved this condo as it has a private den for our son to have his "own room" without the large cost of a 2nd bedroom. Unit is clean, well equipped and the service was perfect too. The closet is packed with great beach goodies and a beach wagon to get your stuff where it needs to go! Love the complex in general, but this unit was well worth it! Jill S.

This was our second stay at Honua Kai, this time in Konea suite 206, a spacious one bedroom with a den and lanui with a clear view of the mountain and occasional rainbow. The double door den is perfect for children with a nice platform bed. The unit was fully equipped from the kitchen to a special closet containing all sorts of pool and beach equipment. We had little use of our car because everything from restaurants, pools, beach, BBQ and grocery are within walking distance. We have been vacationing on Maui for a number of years; the Honua Kai facility and grounds exceed the best hotels, more relaxed environment. The owner Will was very helpful and remembered us from our last visit. The on-site manager Monty, met us in the lobby and was available to answer our questions and provide recommendations to area attractions. Enjoy unit 206; highly recommend. Aloha. Jim & Shari Y.
Apr 28, 2016 Great family value! We had a wonderful stay at the Honua Kai in this unit, it truly suited our family of five. Our kids aged 6,8 and 18 months. The unit was spacious, comfortable and clean. Our kids are eager to return one day, they had a blast with all the amenities. We had a toddler in tow, so it was quite a break to have some wading pools at the resort and all the baby gear on hand, while the older kids could play in the pools and use the waterslide. We loved bbq'ing in the evening around the pool and Dukes restaurant. The BBQs were plentiful and offered chairs and tables to sit down and enjoy a drink while you grill your dinner. There was something for everyone, which is important when you are booking a unit with various family members. We have stayed at the Westin in the past and we felt that the Honua Kai gave us a very similar experience to that of the Westin, the children loved it just as much, and Dukes was great! The value of this condo is very good. Thank you for all the info you provided and for your hospitality. Apr 21, 2016 Excellent Adventures in Ka'anapali! We agree with so many of the sentiments in Will’s other five-star reviews. We stayed in this unit for 11 days. The space was perfect for our family of four, especially with the converted den. Will was extremely responsive to every one of our questions and even met us personally at the airport to deliver our keys. His property manager, Monty, was equally helpful and responsive. The peek-a-boo view of the ocean was nice for the price, and we enjoyed the view of the West Maui Mountains. The pools were great for our kids (12 and 7) and we also spent time at the beach on our boogie boards, building sand castles and looking for whales and turtles (success on both counts!). The kitchen was well-stocked with lots of utensils and cookware, and there was an assortment of beach toys and seating for our use. Having the in-unit washer and dryer was very handy as well. The resort itself is well-maintained and quite beautiful. It’s also a great centralized location between Lahaina and the Napili-area beaches. Our family gives it a two-thumbs up! Brandi B.
Jan 26, 2016 Great Time!! Fabulous condo, super private and quiet with a beautiful view of the mountains. We paid a one bedroom rate but were very happy to have the 2nd bedroom. We put our daughter to bed in the den, closed the French doors and enjoyed the master suite and lanai. The owner, Will, responded quickly to emails and made the whole transaction easy. His property manager was waiting for us and checked us right into the condo. The resort was first rate. Our daughter loved the water slide and the pool with the sandy beach and bottom. Dukes restaurant is right there on site. They delivered food and drinks to us at the pool. We will definitely be back. CRAIG M.

Jul 30, 2015 Great Condo Really nice unit. Everything is as it appears in the photos and unit is very clean! The resort is very well kept and in a great location. The owner is wonderful to deal with! Used the owners recommendation to use Trology Tours! They are outstanding, fantastic snorkel trip with great food! Eat at the Fish Market across the street, incredible food at a good price. Try to avoid the Safeway grocery store if possible, run down store poorly stocked. We stopped at Costco on way in but needed a few extra things and went to Safeway, yuck. Sep 03, 2014 Excellent condo on beautiful property We were very happy with our stay at the Honua Kai. The property itself is beautiful with lots of palm trees, green space, several pools and right on the beach. It was very centrally located to activities and restaurants. The property was clean and well kept. The condo was also very clean and spacious. We were 2 adults and 2 young children. The unit is priced like a 1 bedroom but it is really a 2 (with 1 bathroom which was very spacious) which worked fine for us. There is a full kitchen which was great for our family as we had breakfast and most lunches in the condo. We also ate dinner in a few nights. The property has several high end BBQ's by the pool area which makes it easy for barbecuing and the condo has a huge lanai which is the perfect place for dinner. We had a view of the West Maui mountains which was gorgeous any time of the day. The concierge at the property was very helpful and booked several excursions for us and they are available starting at 7am. Having a condo instead of just a regular hotel room was the best way to go. We had all of the amenities of being on a resort (restaurant, activities, poolside drink service, etc) with the benefits of a full kitchen and larger living space. Will was very helpful both at time of booking and later when I emailed him asking questions of what activities he recommended. Monty, the property manager, was there to greet us when we arrived and was in contact a few times during our stay to ensure we had everything we needed. I would definitely recommend this unit and Honua Kai to anyone going to Maui and hope to stay there again very soon. Rebecca K.
Aug 18, 2014 Wonderful! Wonderful! The condo is beautiful, spacious, luxurious, fresh and bright. Honua Kai is a great resort in a perfect location. Quieter and more relaxing than the busier Kaanapalli strip but only minutes away by car or a healthy walking distance along the boardwalk. The condo has everything you might need, including beach towels, umbrellas and boogie boards. Proving dishwasher and washing machine detergent was really helpful and the shampoo, conditioner and soap was a nice touch. Our family of four (2 adults, 2 children ages 11 and 9) fit in the space very well. Having travelled all around the world and stayed in many 5 star accommodations, this unit and resort did not disappoint. This condo is a slam dunk, the owner (Will) is very easy to deal with, his onsite manager (Monty) is great and very responsive, condo is beautiful and clean and the grounds are 5 star. I will definitely book this unit on our next visit to Maui and would not hesitate to recommend to anyone. ceri h.
Jun 24, 2014 Awesome Place for Families This rental is an amazing place for families. My husband and our 2 Kids (13,15) truly enjoyed our stay here. The den with the added doors made this place feel more like a 2 bedroom for the price of a 1 bedroom. The place was very clean and neat. We loved the amenities that the room provided. The resort itself is a beautiful and fun place. The owner and property management were very easy to work with. We are definetely thinking about a return visit next year already! Minna C.

Aug 31, 2013 Konea 206 - Terffic choice for a family! My family of four - two adults, two children (14, 11) stayed at Honua Kai, Konea 206, from August 21-28, 2013. This is a very spacious, well-maintained unit. It is billed as a one-bedroom, but is truly a two-bedroom because the den has been converted to a bedroom. Konea 206 was an incredible home base for our incredible Maui vacation! Everything was modern and clean. The bed in the master bedroom was more comfortable than my own bed at home - and I love my own bed! Kitchen was spacious and modern. Bathroom was cavernous - plenty of room with separate shower and tub - and two sinks. Three flat screen tvs - so everyone could watch what they wanted during down time. The Honua Kai is in a great location. There is a shopping center across the street with a Times Supermarket - very convenient. Took 10 minutes to drive to Kahana/Napili/Kapalua. Took 5 minutes to drive to the resorts in Kaanapali and 15 minutes to Lahaina. About a 45-minute drive to the airport and 2 hours on the nose to the Haleakala summit for those who might be curious! The grounds of the Honua Kai are immaculate. Very, very well maintained. The photos are not photoshopped - that is really how it looks! We enjoyed the pool areas after the beach. The beach has incredible snorkeling within just 10-20 feet of the shoreline. Awesome views of Lanai and Molokai. The property is managed by Kaanapali Beach Rentals, which is just across the street. They provided outstanding customer service prior to and during our trip. We had a minor issue with the Wifi - and they sent out a techie within 5 minutes. They are better than any hotel front desk. We dined at Duke's Beach House, which is on-site. Best meal of the week. Try their Maui onion soup and their Hula Pie! Mai Tais were very good as well. Honua Kai is outstanding - and Konea 206 is a very, very nice unit. TODD F.
Aug 09, 2013 Spaciousness of this condo vs. that of a 1 bedroom my friend stayed in. "Hi Will, My family and I just returned from 7 days at your condo at Honua Kai. I wanted to tell you that we had a wonderful time. The unit is impressive/beautiful. It was perfectly spacious to accommodate my wife, myself and our two boys aged 3 & 6. We had other friends staying in a smaller one bedroom unit in the other tower and we could not believe the difference in your unit - so much space, the extra sleeping area in the den, the view, beach chairs and toys, a cooler! It was just perfect and we can't wait to come back. We had a memorable family vacation, everything was as advertised! Hopefully we will be back sooner rather than later!"
Aug 02, 2013 Excellent Place! As residents of Maui, my family likes to "get away" right here on island. We love coming to this lovely unit at the Honua Kai - Kaanapali has stores so conveniently close if we need anything, yet once we are there it is so private and relaxing! This unit has plenty of space for the whole family, and the 3rd sleeping area in the den is an added bonus. My kids love to spend all day playing at the pool and on the slides and or at beach...and then we like to take snack breaks enjoying the view from the big lanai. This unit is clean and has great amenities - it had everything we needed! We appreciated how easy it was to work with the owner - Will was very nice and checked in with us during our visit to make sure everything was going smoothly. We can't wait to stay there again soon!! May 04, 2013 Perfect 2 bedroom for less money We are finishing up our stay at your condo and it was perfect. The doors on the den make this is the best 1 bedroom plus den for a family. It makes the second room as if a bedroom. The room had bee supplied with coffee, shampoo and lotion which were a nice touch. Honua Kai has become our favorite resort and this unit is the best so far. My only wish is that Honua Kai would add more umbrellas down by the pool! We will be back for sure. Janice L.
Aug 27, 2024 Amazing stay at Honua Kai with Hawaii Life I had an amazing stay at Honua Kai with Hawaii Life! The check-in process was incredibly smooth, and communication with the host was fantastic both before and during my stay. The condo was spotless, with stylish decor that made it feel like a true home away from home. The condo had all of the amenities for us to cook with, and the wagon and beach chairs were an added bonus for the beach. Really nice touch with the thoughtful welcome gifts in the Condo when we arrived. The resort itself was fantastic, offering multiple pools to choose from, and the beach was absolutely stunning—its steps from the pools. Lots of beach towels available using the towel system in the resort, great sunsets with some live music from Duke’s. There is an Safeway about 10 mins away that had everything we needed for groceries. Overall, a perfect vacation spot that I would love to visit again. Highly recommended! Nathalie and Shamir A.

The amenities were great as well…Easy parking, full gym, multiple pools, including a water slide, on site store and restaurant, pop up craft and food vendors multiple days per week and helpful, accommodating staff. Nov 10, 2025 Overall great experience We felt right as home as soon as we walked into our room, it is beautifully decorated, lots of comfortable seating for our family, lots of beach and pool accessories for us to use - ice chests, pool noodles, beach chairs and umbrellas - we spent most of our days enjoying the many pools, ordering Dukes poolside and made several dinner reservations at Dukes as well (be sure to have a reservation for dinner it gets packed at sunset). The chairs and wagon were very handy for beach days, we could go to the beach out front of the resort or take a short drive to experience other nearby beaches that were all child friendly. We enjoyed our balcony, sunrise views of the mountains were phenomenal. Having a washer and dryer was very helpful. They had a broom which made sweeping up any little bits of sand that inevitably gets carried in, pretty simple and quick to do. Overall great experience, clean and lovely room and view, so much to do that you really don’t need to leave the resort. Joshua Weber
Nov 26, 2025 Overall it was ok. The bed sheets, towels, and curtains had stains when we arrived. The no sand policy was a very stressful task assigned. The complimentary beach equipment was nice if the umbrellas were not broken. We walked out with them to find them broken. ( they replaced them the next day but we had already purchased others near location we enjoyed sunset. The area is ok. Perfect ocean access. Stephanie Baez
